Your baby and you can share wonderful moments at home playing and learning about each other. You can teach your baby all sorts of lessons like how to hold her bottle or silly kids' songs. One easy thing to introduce to your baby is colors. With a few simple objects you can find at home, your baby and you will be exploring colors in no time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • shoe box
  • colored objects
  1. Step 1

Decide which color you want to introduce to your baby for one week. It is important to stick with one color for the whole week.

  2. Step 2

Gather many objects of the same color in a shoe box. Try to make the objects specific to the color. For example, you may have several blocks at home that are many different colors. If you are showing your baby red one week, you can use a red block. But make sure you also have objects that are usually red such as an apple or a fire truck.

  3. Step 3

Sit your baby down on the floor or in his highchair, whichever works best for you. Take the objects out of the box one at a time and say, "Red. Here's a red apple. Yummy!" or "Red. Here's a red fire truck." Then make the noise of the truck' s siren. Line up the objects, so your baby can see them all in a row. Repeat the color word as much as possible.

  4. Step 4

When you are finished showing your baby all the objects from your shoe box, put the objects away by saying, "Say bye-bye to the red apple," and so on.

  5. Step 5

Repeat this activity with the same color every day for one week. Then switch to the next color.

Tips & Warnings
  • Six to eight objects are perfect for this activity.
  • Keep several shoe boxes full of the same colored objects, so you have them ready when you want to introduce a certain color to your child.
  • This is a good activity to start with your baby when she is four months old, and you can continue until she is a toddler.
