Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
First you must decide which component of your IPod is broken. If the part isn't obvious, like the screen is cracked, then you may have to replace parts one at a time until you find the problem. The good thing is the battery and screen are the two components that cause most of the problems.
Step2
Next go to eBay and purchase a screen and/or battery for your IPod model. I have purchased screens for $11 and batteries for $7.
Step3
Go to YouTube.com where you can find articles that show you how to separate the IPod apart. Just slip your knife down the side of the IPod and twist. Do this slowly all the way down both sides. Becareful not to crack your IPod case.
Step4
Unplug the old battery/screen or cust the wires. Attach the new battery by plugging it up or splicing the wires together. This is where the tweezers will come in handy. If you are splicing wire together, cut the electrical tape into tiny squares. Use the tweezers to apply the tape the cover the bare wires.
Step5
Charge your IPod and test it to see if it works before putting it back together. This will save you from taking it apart again.
