Can I finish?

Nothing livens up a conversation, let alone a party, like an ability to imitate famous people. First dates, too, can be more enjoyable and less predictable if you can impress with your talent for mimicry (assuming, of course, that it's not mistaken for you speaking in tongues or some other such possessed by demons kind of thing). Here's a quick easy method to delight your friends and dazzle your date with a celebrity voice. In this case, here's how to imitate Ross Perot.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first thing you need to do raise the timber of your voice halfway between where it usually is and squealing. Think that sinus noise that Felix used to make on the "Odd Couple."

  2. Step 2

Now that you have your voice timber right, memorize the short burst phrases that Ross is known for like "Know what I mean?" and "Are you done?" or "Can I finish"?

  3. Step 3

It also helps if you can be really short and wear your hair in a gray flattop, but if that's not practical, just move on to the last and most important step.

  4. Step 4

The real secret to sounding like Perot (Dana Carvey mastered it) is knowing that unlike the rest of us, who end sentences with our voices going down, Perot almost always ends his sentences going up as if everything he said was a question, even if its not. So, you don't say "That's the way it goes" with your voice trailing off. You say "That's the way it goes" with your voice lifting up. Listen to Perot on the Internet or check out Dana Carvey. Practice it a few times in your new voice and soon you, too, will know how to imitate Ross Perot.
