Press a MAC pigment
Press a MAC pigment

Those big, bumpy pigments are sometimes hard to manage. If you've got your pigment pans ready, we can begin.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • MAC pigment or another form of loose eye shadow
  • 91% rubbing alcohol
  • Small metal pigment pan size of a quarter
  • Stirrer of some sort
  • Very small measuring spoon
  • Old tee shirt
  • Quarter
  1. Step 1

Disinfect your items with your alcohol. Put some drops of alcohol on everything you'll be using and dry with a tissue. Don't rinse it off though.

  2. Step 2

Put a little drop of the alcohol in the pan to make the pigment adhere better. Take a little pigment with your measuring item and place it in the pan. You can do this in another container, but more things to wash. And it's best not to waste your pigment on something you will just wash or throw out.

  3. Step 3

Once your pigment is stirred around in the pan, add one drop of alcohol. Stir it again. Add another drop. Stir it again. Get it to the consistency of cake frosting, and set it evenly in your pan. Leave it for 6 hours or overnight to set.

  4. Step 4

Now your pigment is ready to be pressed. Take an old tee shirt, cut a square of it out. Wrap it around a quarter very tightly. Firmly press the quarter on the pigment and hold it there for about 10 seconds. Keep pressing! Use your muscles!

  5. Step 5

Put your pigment in a warm, dry spot. Now you have a pressed pigment!
