Fritters can be made with fruit, vegetables or meat. This basic fritter batter is simple to whip up and can be used for each of the above.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Electric fry pan
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar (increase if it's a dessert fritter)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 Tablespoon oil or melted butter
  • Sifter
  • Knife and cutting board
  1. Step 1

    Turn your electric skillet to a temperature of 365 to 375 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Sift all of your dry ingredients together.

  3. Step 3

    Beat in the eggs, milk, and oil.

  4. Step 4

    Chop your fruit, vegetables or meat,, (2 cups or more) into small chunks or thin slices. Mix into the batter.

  5. Step 5

    Use just enough oil in the electric skillet to coat the bottom.

  6. Step 6

    Brown each fritter on both sides for a total of about 4 to 6 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve with pure maple syrup, jelly, jam, honey, butter, or any other topping you desire.
  • Fruit fritters taste fantastic with whipped topping.
  • Top fruit fritters with a bit of cinnamon or cinnamon sugar.
