Crab rangoon is another Chinese nibbly that is a tasty treat and can be made easily at home. It is a little healthier than the deep-fried dish. The ingredients are ready to go, no tedious pre-prep necessary. In just a few minutes you can have a finger food for a cocktail party or appetizers for a homemade Asian dinner.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cream cheese (regular, light, fat-free, whichever your preference)
  • Canned crab
  • Wontons
  • Green onions
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Cooking spray (or melted butter)
  1. Step 1

Drain canned crab. Mix with cream cheese. For 8 ounces of crab, use 12 ounces of cream cheese.

  2. Step 2

Mix in soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce to taste.

  3. Step 3

Chop two to three green onions and add to the mixture.

  4. Step 4

Take wontons, one at a time, and spoon a small amount of crab mixture in the center. Wet edges and fold over to create a triangle shape. You can then wet two corners on the long side and pinch those together to create a classic won ton (or tortellini) shape.

  5. Step 5

Spray sheet pan and place Rangoon on tray. Spray top of the wontons or brush with melted butter.

  6. Step 6

Cook at 350 degrees F for 10 to 15 minutes or until browned.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wontons are generally found in the produce section of the grocery store, with the tofu and vegetarian products.
  • Melted butter can provide a more golden color on the cooked product, but it adds more fat to the end product, compared to the cooking spray.
  • Be sure to seal the seams of the wontons so the mixture doesn’t come out during cooking time.

on 6/16/2008 Opps I see a typo (I need more coffee)

I think the 'no comment' thing is because the site is so new, and I'm not sure about the way we have to tool around is the best for the site. I don't know why people don't leave a comment here and there, I see a ton of articles, that people on this site have written and I don't often see comments on any of them, it's kind of strange, I mean we're to be networking, right? lol...

I've also noticed, that when I've e-mailed a few people here, so called 'new friends' I don't get a reply back?? I find that odd as well. The site won't make it, if no one is really comunicating here.

Sorry for posting this here, I guess I could have sent you an e-mail... but I wanted to make sure you had a comment...

Love the recipe above, sounds YUMMY!
