How to Rasterize an Adobe Illustrator Object

Adobe Illustrator lets you create wonderful text and drawings in a fully scalable vector format. Sometimes you might find that you need to rasterize the artwork, however, for certain uses on the web or in other programs. Luckily rasterizing artwork is easy. this guide will help you get started.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Open Illustrator document
  1. Step 1

    Draw some practice shapes on your document.

  2. Step 2

    Select all of the shapes with the black arrow tool.

  3. Step 3

    Go to "object/rasterize."

  4. Step 4

    Choose the correct output resolution for your project. If you are going to print your document, a higher resolution is better. If your image will be diplayed online, a lower resolution will load faster and have a smaller file size.

  5. Step 5

    Click OK. Your image is now rasterized.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once you rasterize your image, avoid scaling it up. Pixelation may occur.
