How to replace an old 3 handle shower valve with a single handle one

In this article you will learn how to replace an old 3 handle shower valve with a new single handle one without tearing the wall apart

Things You’ll Need:

• sinle handle valve,angle grinder,dimond blade for grinder,marker,metal cover plate,soldering tools,pipe cutter,fittings,small peice of pipe

1. First shut the water off. Remove all accessories from old valve, Including handles and cover plates.
2. Make sure water is drained from pipes. Remove stems and tub spout if unit is combo tub shower
3. 2 and 3 handle repair cover plates In the cover plate there is a template for a diamond shape cut out. Place the template in the center of the 3 holes and draw around it.
4. cut the opening and remove the body of the shower valve.
5. center the new valve and cut all the new pieces of pipe needed for installation. use couplings to put it all together.
6. Carefully solder all fittings. Turn water back on and test for leaks.
7. The cover plate comes with 2 long screws and 2 metal strips to hold it in place, Install this now. Then i install all of the pieces to the new shower valve and your job is complete
