How can you find Dr. Awkward at his lair in the Palindome? What will you need to defeat him? Do Kingdom of Loathing guides always end up so inquisitive? For the answers to these and more questions, read on.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Kingdom of Loathing account
  • Computer with Internet access
  1. Step 1

Get the level 11 diary quest from the council, and adventure in the Pirate's Cove at the Poop Deck wearing Pirate Fledges. (if you have not already gotten them, you'll need to complete the F'c'le quest first).

  2. Step 2

Once you've opened Belowdecks, boost your item find, and farm the area until you get two snakehead charrrrms. Consider the They Might Be Giants song "I Palindrome I", and combine them into the talisman.

  3. Step 3

Equipping the talisman opens the Palindome, where you will need to gather the components of a palindromic phrase "God, a red nugget, a fat egg under a dog." Once you have gathered all 4, a shelf will appear, and if you place them in the correct order, Dr. Awkward will come beat you up.

  4. Step 4

Read the book he drops, then go to the Laboratory to do Mr. Alarm's quest; get the two wet stew ingredients from Whitey's Grove, and stunt nuts from the Palindome. Once you give Mr. Alarm the wet stunt nut stew, he'll give you the mega gem. Equip it, and the talisman, and prepare to face Dr. Awkward.

  5. Step 5

Dr. Awkward himself would not be very difficult except for the fact that he makes you fumble your attacks most of the time -- even if you have anti-fumble skills or equipment. The best way around this is to attack him with spells and items.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look for all the palindromes along the way in this quest!
  • Once you place the items on the shelf, you will be beaten up instantly regardless of your HP. If you have no way to recover from being beaten up, wait on this until you've used up any important buffs or turns.
