The Reverse Card trick is a suitable first magic trick to perform. There's not much you can do to botch this trick and it is impressive to your audience if done right.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of cards
  1. Step 1

Prepare the deck ahead of time by putting the bottom card in the deck in reverse order face up. Return the deck to its box.

  2. Step 2

Pull the deck out of the box when you are ready to perform this magic trick and do a fake shuffle with it (Hindu shuffle).

  3. Step 3

Ask an audience member to pick a card from the deck. Then ask him to show this card to the audience, but keep it from you.

  4. Step 4

Turn the deck around in your hands while everyone is distracted. Now the card on top will be face down while all the other cards are unnoticeably facing up.

  5. Step 5

Instruct the audience member to put his card back into the middle of the deck by pushing it into the deck.

  6. Step 6

Flip the deck back over to its original position in your hands as unnoticeably as you can. Now the cards will all be facing down once more except for the card at the back and the card your friend pushed back into the deck.

  7. Step 7

Fan through the cards one at a time until you get to the reversed card and ask the audience member if this is his card. You have just revealed the card he chose, as if by magic.
