Everyone wants to multiply their money. Make your friends or coworkers think you can with this magic coin trick. Turn a quarter into 2 half dollars with this illusion.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 half-dollar coins
  • 1 quarter
  1. Step 1

Hold 2 half-dollar coins together standing up between the tips of the index finger and the thumb of your dominant hand.

  2. Step 2

Position a quarter just in front of these 2 half-dollar coins so that it hides the 2 coins behind it. Make sure you have enough room so that you can grip all 3 coins without the quarter slipping out. Keep the half dollars straight and your hand positioned so these half-dollar coins can not be seen from behind the quarter.

  3. Step 3

Tell your audience that you are going to multiply your money by turning this quarter into 2 half dollars.

  4. Step 4

Reach up with your other hand to grab the quarter. Push the quarter to the side of the half dollars with your thumb so that the 3 coins are stacked together.

  5. Step 5

Separate the coins by gripping 1 of the half dollars in the fingers of one hand and the other half dollar with the quarter hidden behind it in your other hand. Now you are showing 2 coins instead of the one you had just moments before.

  6. Step 6

Place all 3 coins in the palm of your hand with the quarter at the bottom so the 2 larger coins are covering the quarter.

  7. Step 7

Pick up the 2 larger coins and close your palm over the quarter, turning your hand so it isn’t noticeable in your palm. Now you are left with the 2 half dollars and the quarter is gone as if by magic.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you can’t find 2 half dollars for this magic trick, you can use a dime and 2 nickels.
  • Practice this trick until you can do it effortlessly before attempting it in front of other people.
