Setting up a Mac on the Internet is easier than you may expect. The Mac menu is user friendly and helps make the process easier. This eHow can help get you started.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Move your mouse to the Apple menu when you are setting up Internet and troubleshooting for Mac computer networks. Click on “System Preferences” then choose “Network Settings.”

  2. Step 2

Go to the “View” menu and choose “Network.” From there, go to “Show” and click on “Built-in Ethernet.”

  3. Step 3

Use TCPIP to access the Internet. This can be the default; adjust as needed. Use DHCP for most networks.

  4. Step 4

Assign an IP address manually. Check your router manual to find out how to number your IP address. If the last 3 digits match those in the manual, you don’t have to do anything. If, however, the last 3 digits are different, change them to match those in the router manual.

  5. Step 5

Click “Apply Now” to apply the information. You are nearly finished setting up the Internet for the Mac. Next, troubleshoot your Mac computer.

  6. Step 6

Check to see if your connection is correct. If it is not, check your IP address and re-enter it.
