How to Maintain Posture for Left-Handed Golfers

Before taking a golf shot, you first must get into a good posture. A good posture will put your body in the proper position to comfortably execute a back swing and forward swing. With this posture you'll also be able to hit the golf ball squarely. A left-handed golfer needs to make several preparations to get into the correct posture.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get in the proper stance. Start by placing your feet shoulder width apart with the ball centered between your feet, which are parallel to the path between the ball and the target where you want the ball to land. You should reach the golf ball by fully extending your arms and golf club.

  2. Step 2

Maintain a proper weight distribution. Distribute your weight evenly between your left and right feet. Also, balance your weight so it's evenly distributed on your toes and heels.

  3. Step 3

Stand up straight. Standing straight puts you in a balanced position from which you can ease into your posture. It's also a good idea to extend your golf club out perpendicular to your body as well.

  4. Step 4

Bend your knees slightly. Maintain your even weight distribution when bending your knees. If your weight shifts toward the back part of your body, you're bending your knees too much.

  5. Step 5

Balance your weight by sticking your buttocks out. Keep your spine straight and lean over so you're looking directly down at the golf ball.

  6. Step 6

Drop down the golf club. With your weight balanced and the club square with the ball, you should now be in the correct posture to execute a left-handed golf swing.
