A trip to the beach itself can be inexpensive, but the gear you use to enjoy the beach setting can be costly. A woman's bathing suit, for example, can easily cost $75 and up. A cute little beach bag can start around the same price. However, there are ways to have an inexpensive beach trip with inexpensive beach gear.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check out discount online beach gear sites like Swim Outlet where you can get designer swimwear at discounted prices or Beach Store that carries beach gear like umbrellas, beach chairs and towels in value packages (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Go on a little vacation to a foreign land. Many companies have their goods made in foreign countries. There are both black market goods and gray market goods. Buy gray market goods that are both legal and designer. Try a short drive from southern California to Mexico.

  3. Step 3

Shop at Ross, Nordstrom Rack and other discount department stores. Choose the season prior to bathing suit season and shop when the designer beach gear is still on the racks. These stores have both last season's gear, slightly damaged gear, and over-ordered recent beach gear.

  4. Step 4

Shop online auction houses. Let the people of the world shop for discount beach gear and then snatch it up at a great price at an auction. Know the regular price of the item. Know where it should have been manufactured so you don't get a black market good. Know when to buy the beach gear. Shop at off times when the market demand is low for a better price.

  5. Step 5

Go to an unclaimed baggage sale. These items are severely reduced from their retail price. Shop directly from the airlines or from third party vendors. Call your favorite airline carriers and ask where they send the unclaimed baggage. Plan a trip and find your discounts.
