Instructions

    • 1

Open the foam egg carton, cut off the lid and cut the bottom portion into sections. The carton lid is the boat, and the bottom portion sections become sailors.

    • 2

Place the modeling clay in the center of the egg carton lid. If you want to make a large sail, use extra modeling clay to support it.

    • 3

Trim the straw to the desired height of your sail. Stick the straw into the modeling clay, pressing firmly on the clay so it doesn't tilt over.

    • 4

Cut the construction paper into the shape of a triangle or square for the sail. Be sure to make the sail a size that fits on your straw.

    • 5

Decorate both sides of the sail and the egg carton with crayons. You can even give your boat a name and write it on the vessel. Color the bottom egg carton sections, giving them faces and clothes.

    • 6

Punch one hole at the top of the sail and one at the bottom. Thread the straw first through the bottom hole and then through the top to complete your bathtub boat. Place the sailors on deck.
