-
Step 1
Get a blank card or create one by folding a sheet of card stock and trimming it to fit inside your envelope.
-
Step 2
Trim a piece of card stock or patterned paper as a front panel for the card. Cut it slightly smaller than the card front to leave a narrow border once it’s adhered.
-
Step 3
Use glow-in-the-dark paint to design a decorative background, image or border on the card stock. Draw your motif freehand, or use a stencil to create a Christmas tree, ornament, star or Santa Claus (see Resources).
-
Step 4
Create text, doodles and highlights with fluorescent paint pens that will glow under a black light or add an eye-catching touch. Use them to write an appropriate message inside the card like, “Wishing you a Christmas aglow with joy.”
-
Step 5
Make designs shimmer by using a paintbrush to apply a little glow-in-the-dark powder to images stamped with pigment ink (see Resources).
-
Step 6
Add plastic glow-in-the-dark stars or stickers to the card. Some must be “activated” with exposure to a bright light, but they’ll still lend an iridescent touch straight out of the envelope (see Resources).
-
Step 7
Adhere the decorated piece of card stock to the card base once you’re happy with the design.
