If you are part of an online community, you should share your obituary with your online friends. After all, the friendships you form online can be every bit as close as your other friendships--and in some cases, they may be closer. Online friends will wonder what happened to you if they aren't receiving your messages.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Designate a representative. If you’re going to share your obituary online, you won't be around to make sure everything goes as planned. It is of the utmost importance to choose the right person to follow your directions to the letter.

  2. Step 2

Write precise instructions. Your designated representative will respect your wishes; however, you’ve got to be extremely careful when you write your instructions. Be sure they are clear and easy to understand. After all, you won’t be around to provide guidance.

  3. Step 3

Compile a list of your online friends. If you belong to several online communities, group your friends by community. Doing so will help make sure you don’t leave anyone out.

  4. Step 4

Give your designated representative your user name and password for each online community so that he can access the necessary accounts to share your obituary online.

  5. Step 5

Have a dry run. Sit with your designated representative and go through the steps for sharing your obituary with your online friends. Have your representative send the obituary to you and maybe one other trusted friend. Once it goes smoothly, you can relax and rest assured that all will go well.
