How to Reset a Zune

A Zune is a digital music player, or MP3 player, sold by Microsoft. It allows users to manage, play and download music and video files. Like most electronic devices, however, the Zune occasionally freezes up, leaving the unit with a stagnant screen and you unable to operate the player.

Instructions

1. Turn the Zune's "Hold" switch to the "Off" position. This switch is located at the top of the device and is in the "Off" position when no portion of the switch is red.

2. Push and hold the "Back" button while simultaneously pressing the "Up" position on the control pad. Keep both buttons depressed until the screen goes blank.

3. Look for the "Zune" logo to appear on the screen. This indicates that the Zune is resetting itself.

4. Wait for the device to fully reset itself before attempting to operate it.

• Using this method, the Zune should reboot and operate as usual without deleting any of your digital files.

• It is unclear what causes a Zune to "freeze up." If this method does not fix the problem, consult your owner manual or Microsoft technical support for further guidance.

• A Zune contains a few features that many other digital music players on the market do not. Specifically, a Zune can receive FM radio stations. It can also share files wirelessly with other Zunes and via a USB cord with certain video gaming systems. Lastly, it syncs wirelessly with Windows PCs.
