How to Get a Good Grade on a Test

No matter which grade or level of education a person is, a test is something most students don't look forward to taking. Tests do not have to strike fear and anxiety if the student follows a few guidelines and tips. Not only will the anxiety disappear but good grades will follow.

Instructions

    • 1

Start studying as soon as possible for the test. The sooner you start to prepare for a test the better the result. In addition, this early preparation will instill more confidence and the more confidence the less stress you will have come test day.

    • 2

Stay alert and involved in the class prior to the test. This interaction will offer the opportunity to ask any questions on confusing material before the day of the test.

    • 3

Attend any review for the test. Often the teacher will conduct a review of the material prior to the test. Sometimes students in your class will meet to review the subject matter. Any review is a good time to refresh your memory and ask any final questions you may have.

    • 4

Review information from an additional source. Other sources beside the textbook or the instructor may give you a new perspective on the information and make it easier to remember.

    • 5

Summarize the key points of the subject matter on paper or electronically, to assist in test preparation. Reducing the copious amount of study material to key points can give a student a better idea of overall concepts.

    • 6

Eat well prior to the test. To make a good grade a student needs to be at her best physically on test day. Eat a good meal, but do not overeat or eat anything too heavy that may make you lethargic during the test.

    • 7

Talk to the instructor after class if there is any specific information that you do not understand. Listen carefully for any hints or tips the teacher offers about the test.

    • 8

Get plenty of sleep the night before the test. Studies have shown that cramming really does not help a student get good grades. Chances are any additional information retained during a cram is offset the by the material forgotten during the test due to sleep deprivation.
