Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Gather all needed materials.

  2. Step 2

Make a long tube around the empty film canister by rolling construction paper around it. Making sure that the lid of the canister is at the base of the construction paper tube, tape the construction paper together.

  3. Step 3

Create a cone for the top of the rocket by cutting a circle out of construction paper, cutting a slit in it, folding it into a cone shape and taping it together. Tape the nose cone to the top of the rocket.

  4. Step 4

Stabilize the rocket by adding 4 tail fins to the base end of the baking soda and vinegar rocket.

  5. Step 5

Open the film canister and carefully add a little bit of baking soda. Now add a little bit of vinegar and quickly close the canister with the lid.

  6. Step 6

Place the rocket on the ground quickly, nose cone pointing upward and stand far back from the baking soda and vinegar rocket.

  7. Step 7

    Watch the rocket blast off.

Tips & Warnings
  • An empty soda bottle works just as well as a film canister.
  • Never allow anyone's face near the rocket when it is preparing to blast off.
  • Do not point the rocket at anyone.
  • Be sure not to launch the rocket near houses, cars or people.
