Step 1
Warm up your arm muscles with gentle stretches. Breakdancing requires a lot of strength and balance. To prevent injury your arms, wrists and shoulders need to be adequately stretched before you perform the hand spin.

Step 2
Choose your strongest arm. Plant your elbow of that arm halfway between your belly button and hip. This is the arm that supports your weight during the hand spin.

Step 3
Keep your body parallel to the ground while performing the breakdance move. Push your entire body off the floor with the arm that is planted against your stomach. The planted arm needs to form a 90-degree angle with your body. Maintain a face-down position.

Step 4
Learn to hold this pose for 10 to 20 seconds. Practice keeping your balance in this position before you add the hand spin to the break dance. Repeat the previous steps until you feel confident and comfortable with performing them.

Add the hand spin to your breakdance. Use a plastic bag, rag or wash cloth to alleviate friction from underneath your planted hand. Repeat the previous steps in fast motion. Use your free hand to spin yourself around your planted hand.

Step 6
Practice until you learn the breakdance move well. Increase your speed once you feel comfortable. Embellish the move by doing things with your free hand like grabbing your leg, touching your head or putting your hand behind your back. Give the hand spin move your own unique, flair. There are no boundaries when is comes to breakdancing.
