How to Frame Mirrors
Framing a mirror to hang in your home adds gives your decor a finished look. You can frame mirrors using trim molding and epoxy for a style that is as detailed or ornate as you want to make it. A beginner can handle this project with ease. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- Corner molding blocks
- Molding
- Shims
- Screws
- Drill
- Construction adhesive

Measure the mirror and shop for trim molding. Purchase corner blocks to match your molding so you don't have to try and cut strange angles. You can also have the molding cut to size to make it more convenient.

Install shims to the walls next to the mirror so that they are level with the surface of the mirror. This provides you a place to attach the molding to the wall without putting too much pressure on the mirror itself.

Dry fit the corner blocks and molding into place and secure them using painter's tape.

Add adhesive to the corner blocks and secure them into place using painters tape until the adhesive dries.

Place the molding into its final location and attach it to the shims with screws.

Remove the painter's tape once everything is secure and the adhesive is dry. Add caulk to fill any gaps.

Paint or stain your frame to match your home's decor. You can also do this prior to installation and do touch-ups once the frame is complete.

Select an adhesive that is made to be used on mirrors.
Use hook and loop tape to secure molding to a mirror temporarily if you live in a rental or you like to redecorate frequently.
