Chocolate is one of the world's favorite sweet treats, but for vanilla lovers it needs an added touch of that perfect flavor. If you are looking for a delectable syrup to add to your morning coffee, or to serve over ice cream, you can custom make your own choco-vanilla syrup.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Heavy pan
  • Unsweetened powdered chocolate
  • Granulated sugar
  • Salt
  • Vanilla extract
  • Bottle with tight fitting lid
  1. Step 1

Bring a pot of water to a boil. If you want to make one cup of syrup, use 1/2 cup of water. If you want to make 4 cups of syrup, add 2 cups of water. Adjust your porportions by this 2 to 1 ratio depending on how much syrup you plan to make.

  2. Step 2

Add unsweetened powdered chocolate and granulated sugar to the water when it begins to boil. Add as much chocolate as water and twice as much sugar. If you used 1/2 cup of water, use 1/2 cup of powdered chocolate and 1 cup of sugar.

  3. Step 3

Add a pinch of salt to your mix and stir constantly over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. It can take up to 20 minutes for your choco-vanilla syrup to reach the right consistency. If the mix begins to boil rapidly, lower the heat, as it is easy to burn the sugar.

  4. Step 4

Remove the mixture from the burner and add vanilla extract to taste. Pour the syrup into a bottle and store in your refrigerator for up to 3 months.
