How to Make Rockstar Jeans

Bono, Mick Jagger, Eddie Van Halen and Sheryl Crow all have one thing in common: they know how to wear rock star jeans. You may think that the rockers get their pants from some secret designer underground but the truth is that you can make your own star-worthy jeans.

Instructions

    • 1

Start with a pair of regular blue jeans that fits you pretty snugly without being skin tight. Look for a pair that hang low on the hips.

    • 2

Take a box cutter and fray the waist of the jeans by inserting the point a millimeter or so into the denim, and then pluck out the point. Do the same thing at the leg holes on the jeans until you have enough threads hanging from the bottom of the pants.

    • 3

Scrape pumice stone or sandpaper across the thighs and knees of the jeans to give them some wear. Rub both knees of the jeans until a hole appears.

    • 4

If the rubbing doesn't work, use your box cutter to make a small cut. Wear the jeans until the cuts naturally expand.

    • 5

Sew some patches or studs onto the jeans. Keep the patches on the back of the jeans, near or on the pockets. If you want to add artsy character, splatter paint on your jeans.

    • 6

Dirty the jeans by wearing them until they acquire that cruddy-chic look that rock stars love to sport.
