There situations in which a piece of string is your only salvation from boredom. To make the most of your limited entertainment, you're going to have to push the envelope on your imagination.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Practice tying different knots, such as a square knot or a bowline. Imagine situations in which you'd need to tie something and see if you can tie the right knot for it.
Step2
Tie the ends of the string together into a loop. Then find a friend who knows how to play the string game "cat's cradle" or teach it to someone and see how many passing progressions you and your partner can get through.
Step3
Use the string to play a game with yourself. Estimate the length of a random object in terms of the number of lengths of your string. After you guess, measure the object with your string to see how close you were.
Step4
Dangle the string above a cat. Watch the animal go into its funny dance while maneuvering to grab the elusive string. Shake the string side to side and up and down to move the cat around.
Step5
Look for something that can be fixed or tied together with string and work on it.
