1
Try a different set of headphones. Connect the iPod to a speaker in a docking station to make sure that the device itself is functioning correctly. Plug a working set of headphones into the jack to see if the original headphones are the problem.
-
2
Use a jeweler's screwdriver to slowly open the iPod case without opening the front. Work around the copper wire without disturbing it to avoid erasing the iPod.
-
3
Find the glue strings when the back is separated from the iPod. Remove the strings to prevent them from falling into the iPod.
-
4
Gently nudge the small, silver-colored box at the top right inside the open case to the left with a small screwdriver or a pencil. Push it back slowly to the right until sound comes though the headphones.
-
5
Determine which direction to push the headphone jack. Apply gentle force until the jack holds the position and continues to work.
-
6
Put on the back of the case. Use both hands to gently lock the case back together.
