The bikini purse is a variation of the bra purse, which was created in honor of breast cancer survivors. The bikini purse is a great way to recycle a swimsuit or to make a small bag to match this season's beachwear.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Recycle a bikini top or purchase a new one. Choose a smaller size to make a change purse or cell phone holder or get a larger top to make a bigger purse. Select a style that has a string running through the bottom hem of the bra cups.

  2. Step 2

Lay the bikini top on a flat surface. Cut the strings from the top of each of the bra cups.

  3. Step 3

Fold the two halves of the bikini bra top over one another, wrong sides together. Machine sew or hand stitch through all the layers up both sides of the triangle to the top point.

  4. Step 4

Double stitch at the start of stitching on each side and at the point. Leave a 1/8 inch seam allowance.

  5. Step 5

Trim any lose threads. Pull the drawstrings to close the purse. Add on the strings that were removed earlier for a longer strap.

  6. Step 6

Personalize the purse with embellishments like ribbons, buttons, lace or gems. Sew them on or use a hot glue gun to adhere the decorative accent.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't sew through the bottom hem or the drawstring.
