A delicious dish of steaming hot pasta just doesn't seem right if it isn't accompanied by some spicy garlic bread. Luckily the situation is easily rectified, and your spaghetti dinner needn't be incomplete. Making delicious garlic bread is a snap.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • French bread or Italian bread
  • Softened, unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Garlic cloves, finely minced
  • Parmesan cheese, freshly grated (optional)
  1. Step 1

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise.

  2. Step 2

Combine the butter, chopped parsley and minced garlic in a small mixing bowl.

  3. Step 3

Place the slices bread on a baking sheet and spread the garlic mixture evenly over it.

  4. Step 4

Heat the bread in the oven for about ten minutes. Take the bread out of the oven and sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.

  5. Step 5

Put the bread back in the oven and broil it for 2 to 3 minutes. If you use Parmesan cheese, it should be bubbly. Keep a close eye on the bread when it's under the broiler. It can burn very quickly.

  6. Step 6

Remove the spicy garlic bread from the oven and let it cool for about a minute. Slice the spicy garlic bread and serve it steaming hot.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you prefer your spicy garlic bread soft instead of toasty, prepare the bread as above, but wrap the bread halves in aluminum foil and heat for about 15 minutes instead of broiling it.
