A mouth board can turn a puppet into a talking person. Even sock puppets transform into animated little creatures when you add a bendable mouth board to them. Make your sock puppets laugh, eat and talk just like real people

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut a rectangle piece of cardboard from a cereal box, juice box or any box constructed from heavy stock. The dimensions should be 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches. Fold the rectangle in half.

  2. Step 2

Brush liquid cement over the inside of the rectangle. Get the brush lightly soaked with glue. Dry the glue with a hair dryer until it's tacky.

  3. Step 3

Cut a piece of felt slightly larger than the cardboard piece. Place the felt on top the sticky side of the cardboard. Cut the excess felt off the cardboard.

  4. Step 4

Trim the edges of the rectangle so your mouth board has rounded corners. Cut as much off the corners as you want to make your puppet's mouth.

  5. Step 5

Score the backside of the mouth board using a box cutters. Don't cut all the way through the board, just enough so that it bends easier.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use red or pink color felt for the inside of your puppet's mouth.
