How to Make a Puppet Mouth Board

A mouth board can turn a puppet into a talking person. Even sock puppets transform into animated little creatures when you add a bendable mouth board to them. Make your sock puppets laugh, eat and talk just like real people

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Cardboard
• Felt
• Liquid cement
• Scissors
• Hair dryer
• Box cutter

1. Cut a rectangle piece of cardboard from a cereal box, juice box or any box constructed from heavy stock. The dimensions should be 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches. Fold the rectangle in half.

2. Brush liquid cement over the inside of the rectangle. Get the brush lightly soaked with glue. Dry the glue with a hair dryer until it's tacky.

3. Cut a piece of felt slightly larger than the cardboard piece. Place the felt on top the sticky side of the cardboard. Cut the excess felt off the cardboard.

4. Trim the edges of the rectangle so your mouth board has rounded corners. Cut as much off the corners as you want to make your puppet's mouth.

5. Score the backside of the mouth board using a box cutters. Don't cut all the way through the board, just enough so that it bends easier.

Tips & Warnings

• Use red or pink color felt for the inside of your puppet's mouth.
