How to Make Fake Ginger Ale

When you're craving ginger ale but have none in the house, make your own fake ginger ale. Use carbonated soda or mix a few common ingredients and a little ginger root.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • 2 Saucepans
  • Strainer
  • Ginger root
  • Sugar
  • Club soda
  • Lime or lemon
  • Glass
  • Ice

    Soda Pop Ginger Ale

  1. Step 1

    Put ice in your glass or place a mug in the freezer for a frosted drink.

  2. Step 2

    Fill the glass about 3/4 way full with lemon-lime soda.

  3. Step 3

    Top off the glass with a dark cola, diet or regular.

  4. Step 4

    Stir and serve the ginger ale look-alike.

  5. Homemade Ginger Ale

  6. Step 1

    Boil a few ounces of grated ginger root with a cup of water. Take it off the heat and let it cool.

  7. Step 2

    Strain the ginger pieces out of the mixture.

  8. Step 3

    Make a syrup in a saucepan with equal parts sugar and water. Let the syrup cool.

  9. Step 4

    Put ice in your glass and fill it about 1/2 full with club soda. Add the syrup to the ginger water. Experiment with the amounts to fit your taste.

  10. Step 5

    Add a few drops of lime or lemon juice or serve with a slice of lime or lemon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Adults can add bitters to the mix for extra flavor.
