A flower pot recipe holder is an easy craft for kids to make and a perfect gift for them to present to all of their favorite cooks. Even young children can make flower pot recipe holders, with only a bit of adult help.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 inch flower pot, either terra cotta or plastic
  • Spray paint (optional)
  • 6 to 9 small artificial flowers
  • Plastic tablecloth or layer of newspapers
  • Plaster of Paris
  • Duct tape
  • 1 sturdy disposable fork
  • Recipe card
  • Ribbon, at least 1-inch wide
  1. Step 1

Protect your working surface with a plastic tablecloth or a thick layer of newspapers.

  2. Step 2

Spray the flower pot, or if you prefer, you can leave it plain.

  3. Step 3

Put a small piece of duct tape over the hole in the bottom of the flower pot. Mix the plaster of Paris according to the instructions on the package. Let it set for a few minutes, just long enough to thicken, but not long that it becomes firm. Pour the thickened plaster of Paris into the flower pot.

  4. Step 4

Layer a small piece of moss over the top and poke the artificial flowers through the moss and into the plaster of Paris.

  5. Step 5

Poke the fork into the middle of the pot and into the plaster of Paris, with the tines pointing up.

  6. Step 6

Allow the plaster of Paris to dry until it hardens completely, about 6 to 12 hours.

  7. Step 7

Place a recipe card in the tines of the fork and finish the flower pot recipe holder by tying a brightly colored ribbon around the flower pot.
