Roaches are a persistent pest that seem to find their way into every nook and crevice in our homes. Caulking is a great way to to stop the invasion of these creepy crawlers and get rid of them for good.

From Quick Guide: Pest Control Guide
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Clean out all areas that attract the roaches to the home. Sweep away leaves and clean gutters to remove debris that provides a nesting area for the roaches. Roaches desire warmth above all else; remove this option and they will find another area to inhabit.

  2. Step 2

Inspect window frames around the house. Prepare a caulk gun or a tube of ready made caulk available at most home improvement stores, like Lowe’s or Home Depot, and fill in any visible gaps or voids.

  3. Step 3

Seal around the baseboards of the home with caulk. Baseboards often come away from the wall and provide a perfect entryway for roaches. Run a bead of caulk along the open seam to seal the gap.

  4. Step 4

Consider buying a foundation or gutter sealant caulk. This caulk is used outside where temperature variations make cement foundation cracks and crevices expand and contract with the weather. Seal any foundation cracks to prevent the roaches from entering from under the home.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a clear-style caulk for areas around windows and in places that require a no-color treatment.
  • Caulk outside only when the weather will be clear for a few days. Wet or windy weather will damage the new caulk before it has a chance to set up.
  • Never caulk around live wires outside.
