How to Create a Picnic Checklist

Taking time out to plan a picnic makes you less stressed. When gathering things for a picnic, it is easy to overlook some items you may need. Creating a picnic checklist helps. Before you begin your fun-filled picnic, double check your picnic checklist to make sure you don’t leave anything behind.

Things You'll Need:

  • Sturdy basket (lid optional)
  • Condiments
  • Foil, wax paper or plastic wrap to cover food
  • Cutting board
  • Damp wipes
  • Plastic bags for leftovers
  • Paper towels
  • Garbage bag
  • Camera
  • Sunscreen
  • Hats
  • Waterproof ground cover
  • Food and drinks
  • Napkins
  • Plates, both large and medium size disposable plates
  • Disposable knives, forks and spoons
  • Serving utensils
  • Cups, hot and cold disposable cups
  • Insect repellent
  • Corkscrew or bottle/can opener
  1. Step 1

    Create a document and type “Things You Need” across the top. Create the list using items as appropriate from the suggestions listed. Name your document “Picnic List” and save it to your hard drive.

  2. Step 2

    Print a copy of your document and have it handy for your next picnic.

  3. Step 3

    Schedule your next picnic. When that day arrives, you will be less stressed and ready to get the picnic underway because you have your list ready to go.

  4. Step 4

    Look over your picnic checklist and check off all the items you have in your picnic basket. Visualize the picnic in your head and make sure you have everything ready. Take your time when preparing things from the list so that you do not forget anything.

  • Always remember the weather when planning your picnic list. You may want to add umbrellas or raincoats to your picnic list.
