Things You'll Need:
- Craft wire
- One large bead
- Wire cutters
- Needle nose pliers
- Flat nose pliers
- A clasp for a necklace
- A jewelry file
-
Step 1
Select one large bead to create visual interest and to mark the low point of the necklace. Select an unusual bead or shape to add a unique touch to the necklace.
-
Step 2
Measure approximately 18 inches of craft wire and cut it with wire cutters. Cut 30 pieces that are each ¾-inch from the 18-inch wire. The number of ¾-inch lengths may vary depending on your neck size.
-
Step 3
Twist and bend each small piece of wire into a desired shape. While holding the wire with one hand, use needle nose pliers to twist and bend the wire into a desired shape such as a loop, a figure eight or an oval.
-
Step 4
Cut a longer piece of wire and slide the large bead over this wire. Shape the wire into a desired shape. Close the ends of wire together.
-
Step 5
Make “O” rings to connect the shapes together. Wrapping the wire around the tip of the needle nose pliers or around a pencil is an easy way to make the “O” rings.
-
Step 6
Use flat nose pliers to slightly open ends of the “O” rings. Begin to connect the shapes created in Step 3 to the end of center bead. Continue connecting the shapes to each side of the center bead until the same number of shapes is on each side of the center bead. Close each “O” ring tightly after placing it on the necklace.
-
Step 7
Attach the necklace clasp to ends of necklace. Smooth all sharp or rough edges with a jewelry file.
