For some reason, people--especially children--enjoy making fun of small people. There are advantages to being small and ways to cope. So if you are one of the small people in the world--and there are a lot of us out there--take heart and remember the following when someone teases you about being small.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Understand the plus side to being small. As a child being small can be an advantage since when playing hide and seek you fit into smaller places. You can also get to small places easier when trying to get objects--such as baseballs--out of bushes.
Step2
Reason with the people who are calling you small. As an adult, reason should always be your weapon of defense. However, if you are a small female trying to cope with a much larger male, remember you are in a position to hurt him much easier than he can hurt you. Impact to a sensitive part of his anatomy can do wonders for his teasing and your ego.
Step3
Carry yourself proudly. Don’t let snide remarks or cutting sarcasm change who you are--you may be small, but that is something you can’t change. Showing that you are happy and content with being small is something you can do.
Step4
Remember that people who are big may not be happy with who they are either. Know what you can change and what you can’t change--you can’t change being small, you can change how you cope with it. Being small is no different than being rich or poor, happy or depressed--it’s all a matter of how you handle it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always remember the old saying, “Big things come in small packages.”
