How to Make an Origami Frog Family With Lily Pads

If you love doing origami, you will love making origami frogs. You can make a whole family of frogs in different sizes and several lily pads with just a few sheets of paper and a pair of scissors.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a color and type of paper for your frogs and your lily pads. You can pick any thickness of paper as long as you will be able to fold it. Draw lily pads on some sheets and cut them out.

    • 2

Take one sheet of paper and fold it corner to corner so that you make a perfect square. Do this by taking the bottom right corner of the page and folding it up and to the left forming a triangle. Line the left sides together and press the right side down flat. You will now have a triangle shape on the page.

    • 3

Cut off the extra slip of paper at the top of the page so that you are left with a perfect square. Unfold the square and refold it in the opposite direction to make a triangle. Unfold the paper again so you have a square with an "X" in the middle representing the creases.

    • 4

Fold the square into a triangle again by pushing the creases toward each other so they meet in a triangle form. You will have two triangles, one on the top and one on the bottom.

    • 5

Take the bottom right corner and fold it up so it matches with the top corner. Fold the crease flat. Fold the bottom left corner up to the top corner and fold the crease flat. You will now have a diamond on top and a large triangle on the bottom.

    • 6

Fold the right corner toward the center crease. Do the same to the left corner and fold them flat. This is the top of the frog.

    • 7

Turn the frog over. Fold the triangle toward the center so that both sides meet in the middle along a crease. Take the right center edge and fold it toward the right side so that it lines up along the right edge. Do the same for the left side.

    • 8

Flip the frog over and so the legs are on the top. Fold the body in half so that the head is on top. Fold the legs in half so the legs are now sitting under the frog. Press down on the back to make the frog jump.
