4-H is a community group that has many activities for children and adults. 4-H stands for hands, heart, head and health. 4-H helps children become leaders. You and your family can get involved by becoming 4-H members. There are 4-H clubs in most communities. Children can participate in 4-H activities as young as five and can continue until they are 19.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a local branch of 4-H and find out what programs they offer. Depending on your community, there may be activities such as sewing, cooking, farming and computers.

  2. Step 2

Register a child. Decide what you would like to get your child involved in or what your child is interested in trying. Check the schedule, especially if you have to provide transportation for your child. Also consider 4-H camps and possible bus transportation for your child.

  3. Step 3

Start you own 4-H club. Find someone who is interested in the same things you are and start a 4-H club. Alternatively, you can contact the local branch and tell them what you would like to start and they may have other people who are interested in helping you.

  4. Step 4

Check with your local school and see if they offer 4-H programs. You may have an interest in a 4-H club that already exists. Therefore, you can volunteer to help with this particular club or find out what programs, clubs or activities need volunteers.
