How to Switch to Manual Calculation in Excel
By default, Microsoft Excel 2007 is set to automatically calculate any formula that you type or insert into an Excel workbook. If you would like, you can change to manual calculation mode. This means that Excel will not perform any calculations until you instruct it to. Keep reading to find out how you can switch to and perform in, manual calculation mode in Excel.

Open Microsoft Excel and start a new blank workbook or open an existing workbook from your files.

Choose the "Formulas" tab to display the "Formulas" ribbon at the top of the screen.

Click the "Calculation Options" button in the "Calculation" section of the "Formulas" ribbon to view the drop-down list of options. Choose "Manual" from the list of options to switch to manual calculation. This will tell Excel that you want to switch from automatic calculation to manual calculation.

Enter your formulas into your Excel workbook as usual. When you press the "Enter" key after typing a formula, it will no longer automatically calculate your formula without you specifically instruction it to.

Select the "Calculate Now" button in the "Calculations" section of the "Formulas" ribbon. Every formula that you have entered into the current Excel workbook will now be calculated.

Tips & Warnings
You can use the keyboard shortcut of "F9" function key or "CTRL" + "=" to initiate the "Calculate Now" command instead of choosing the "Calculate Now" button from the ribbon.
You can only use the "Calculate Now" command if you have switched to manual calculation mode.
