How to Aim and Fire a Rifle
Aiming and firing a rifle is a very simple task. However, guns are not toys and they should be treated with great respect and only handled by individuals who have experience with weapons. The following steps will tell you how to aim and fire a rifle correctly and safely.

1
Point the rifle down for safety purposes even if you are sure it is not loaded.
-
2
Place your dominant hand around the grip of the gun and your other hand down the barrel at a comfortable distance. The butt of the gun should be firmly placed in your shoulder. This provides more stability to the rifle while aiming and firing and it prevents a recoil from disrupting the shot.

3
Load the rifle. This should also be done with the rifle pointed down and with the safety on (if the rifle has this feature). Load the bullets into the appropriate area of the weapon and lock it into the chamber.
-
4
Aim the rifle. If the rifle has a scope, place the cross hairs of the scope on your target. If the rifle does not have a scope, set the sights that are located at the end of the barrel on the target. Keep your dominant eye open and close the other so you will be able to focus completely on the target.

5
Take the safety off of the rifle and fire the gun at your intended target.

Never aim a gun at anyone, even if you know the gun is not loaded. Misfires occur sometimes without a bullet being in the gun.
