How to Use a Roller Hairbrush

Styling hair with a roller hairbrush is easier than styling with curlers, curling irons or straightening irons. The metal plate which holds the bristles on the roller hairbrush heats up when the hot blow dryer blows against it. And, the heat from the metal plate and blow dryer dries and curls your hair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shampoo and towel dry your hair. Comb through your hair to remove tangles.

  2. Step 2

Use a protective blow drying lotion on your hair and comb it through. Using the high heat setting on your blow dryer, tousle your hair until it is damp.

  3. Step 3

Place a part at the top of your hair, if you like. Make a part across the back of your head and section off the lowest part of your hair. Comb the remaining hair upward, twist and clip it to keep it out of the way.

  4. Step 4

Blow dry the bottom section of your hair by placing the roller hairbrush underneath it and brushing downward while slightly rolling the brush. This action creates a slight curl or bend in your hair. Set the curl before removing the brush from your hair by using the cold button on your dryer.

  5. Step 5

Create more lift in your hair by pulling the brush out to the side or upward instead of straight down. Curl your hair to the front or back by turning the brush vertical and rolling it toward the front or back.

  6. Step 6

Repeat the procedure by sectioning off a few inches of hair on the back of your head above the bottom section. Again, comb the remaining hair upward, twist and clip it to keep it out of the way. Continue to dry your hair by sectioning it off, from the bottom to the top.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using a natural boar bristle roller hairbrush for fine hair will reduce static electricity.
