How to Use Skype as a Radio Channel for Your Friends
Rather than buying expensive recording equipment or trying to get on the air at a local radio station, you can set up your own radio channel for your friends, using Skype's video conferencing software. You can introduce songs, make dedications and even take requests from your friends. Skype is free and easy to set up, ensuring that your career as a radio jockey can start immediately.

1
Download and install Skype from its official website (see Resources below). An installation window should launch automatically when you download the software. During the installation process, you will be asked to sign up for a user name.
-
2
Create a playlist of songs you wish to play on your radio channel, using the software you usually use to listen to music on your computer. Use as many songs as you like to create your radio channel, though working with a central theme can make for a better radio show. You should also consider making notes of what you might want to say about each song.

3
Open Skype, and click the "Voice Conference" button to start a new conference. You will use the conference as a way to broadcast your music.
-
4
Invite your friends to your voice conference. Once they have joined, you can greet them and tell them about the music lineup you have prepared.
-
5
Plug your speaker output into the microphone input when you're ready to play music. You can also point your microphone toward your speakers, although this method will greatly reduce the sound quality. You may need to practice switching back and forth to be able to speak at the end of a song.
-
6
Start your playlist. During transitions, introduce the new song and announce any dedications or requests. Your show can last as long as you want and your friends will be able to tune in at any time. If your friends enjoy your taste in music, you may even consider setting a time for a recurring music broadcast.
