There are many types of video file formats for computers. Some are made for a specific media player while others are made for a broad range of players. This may restrict you from using certain video files with your media player. WinAVI Video Converter allows you to transfer all of your video files to one specific format and burn them to a DVD.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Download WinAVI and Covert Files

  1. Step 1

Download WinAVI Video Converter directly from the WinAvi website (see Resources below). You have the option to try it for an evaluation period or to purchase it. The trial version has some limitations, but you can purchase the full version at any time.

  2. Step 2

Enter the registration information in the appropriate fields. After you have purchased the full version of WinAVI, you will need to copy and paste the specific, case-sensitive registration name and code. Once your evaluation period has ended, you will not be able to access WinAVI without a registration.

  3. Step 3

Click the appropriate video file format. The main window of WinAVI has three different video file icons: "WMV," "AVI" or "RM." WMV and AVI files are associated with Windows Media Player but may be played on other media players, and RM files are used with RealPlayer.

  4. Step 4

Select all of the video files you wish to convert. You will be prompted with the "Converting" window. You can add more files by clicking the "Plus" icon under the "File(s) That Will be Converted" section.

  5. Step 5

Choose a folder for the converted files. Click the "Browse" button under the "Output Directory" section and select a folder you want to use for the converted files.

  6. Step 6

Click "Ok" to begin converting the video. After the video conversion process is complete, access the files in the folder you decided to use.

  7. Use WinAVI to Burn Video Files to DVD

  8. Step 1

Click the "DVD" icon in the main window and select the video files you want to burn. You will be prompted to select video files.

  9. Step 2

Make sure the "Output Format" section says "DVD."

  10. Step 3

Click "Ok" to burn the video files.

on 6/30/2008 Nice tool for PC! But don't forget Apple users :)

Any Video Converter for Mac, probably the best converter for Apple MAC platform (http://www.download.com/Any-Video-Converter-for-Mac/3000-2200_4-10854757.html). It can convert almost every video/audio format, like AVI, MPEG, MP4, ASF, MOV, WMV, MP3, AAC, M4A, etc, to suitable formats for iPod, PSP, DV, DVD, Tivo, mobile phones, ... It's very easy to operate, and it supports batch processing, so it's very efficient and can save users a lot of time.

If you have an Apple machine, and look for a good converting tool, please don't hesitate to download one and enjoy!
