Boys and girls, have you ever been afraid of monsters in your room at night even though adults tell you monsters aren't real? Lucky for you, the adults are right, but sometimes you might still be afraid when the room is dark. Well, I have good news! Instead of searching for monsters that aren't really there, you can do the things in this list, which have worked in my family for years, and you will no longer be afraid when you go to bed.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A loud voice
  • Bravery

Step1
Do all the things you normally do before bed: take a bath, put on your pajamas, brush your teeth, and whatever else you do.
Step2
Click to enlarge. Now, just before you crawl into bed, stand next to your bed like Superman. Make your hands into fists, put them on your hips, and put your feet shoulder-width apart (that means pretend there's a string hanging from your shoulders down to the ground and put your feet where the string touches the floor.) If you stand like this in front of a mirror, you will see how powerful you look! Now that you are looking strong and powerful, you're ready for step 3.
Step3
Using a loud voice, say what your name is and that there are no monsters in your room. For example: "My name is Michael and there are no monsters in my room!" Say it a few times if you want to, but say it loud. It's a good thing monsters don't exist, or they would sure be afraid of you when you do this!
Step4
After you have crawled into bed, hugged your favorite doll or action figure, and hopefully have been read a bedtime story, you can go to sleep knowing that you are safe in your room.

Tips & Warnings

  • You probably have someone tuck you in at night. If you like, have that person do these steps with you.
  • You're still brave even if you use a night-light in your room.
