The cha-cha is a common and relatively easy to learn style of Latin dance. It all starts with three count steps where the man and the woman take steps that are often mirrors of each other. Ladies can do these steps to perform the cha-cha side steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Face your partner and follow his lead. Begin with your arms on his shoulders, one high and one low.

  2. Step 2

Maintain a flirtatious attitude and a smile while doing the cha-cha. Begin by keeping your weight on your left leg and step to the side with your right foot with a rocking motion.

  3. Step 3

Step forward with your left foot, rock back onto your right foot and step to the side with your left. Step back with your right foot, lightly on your front left foot and shuffle forward again with your right.

  4. Step 4

Keep your steps about hip-width apart and move smoothly. Continue switching between front and back steps in a "cha-cha-cha" count which is a quick 1-2-3 count.

  5. Step 5

Follow your partner's lead in direction and turns. Keep up your steps by stepping to the side, front, back and then side, back, front until your dance is through.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your steps small and controlled.
