Bunnies are so cute. That is what makes families want to keep them as pets. Are you up to the challenge of caring for your bunny properly? Follow these steps and she will live a long and happy life as part of your family.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cage
  • Toys
  • Fresh vegetables and fruits
  1. Step 1

Know that rabbits come in many different breeds. See the website in Resources below to learn more about the various breeds.

  2. Step 2

Consider that bunnies are ready to be adopted by the time they reach eight weeks of age. There may be some exceptions to why it may take longer, but this is the average.

  3. Step 3

Consider getting a bunny as early as possible. They are much easier to train when they are young. It gets more difficult as they get older. In fact, bunnies are most aggressive at six months of age.

  4. Step 4

Searching for a healthy bunny and take a good look at her eyes and nose. They should be free from crust and not runny.

  5. Step 5

Know that bunny urine should be clear. Rabbits tend to have a strong smelling urine, but it should not be cloudy. Pellets should be firm and hard, not runny.

  6. Step 6

Be aware that rabbits can be spayed or neutered just like cats and dogs. This is a good idea because rabbits multiply quickly. Neutering also reduces aggressiveness in male rabbits, just like in dogs and cats. Bunnies require vaccinations, so setting an appointment with a veterinarian doctor is a good idea.

  7. Step 7

Take proper care of your pet bunny to ensure a long life with the family. Rabbits do have the ability to become attached to their caregiver, so they can return their love.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not want to raise a bunny, consider adopting a rabbit from a rescue center.
