It may seem impossible that eggs can be boiled in a microwave oven, but it actually can be done, and the flavor of eggs cooked this way is very good. However, boil eggs in the microwave oven at your own risk because there is a chance that the eggs can explode.

From Quick Guide: Prepare an Egg
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plate
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Vinegar
  1. Step 1

Fill the microwaveable cooking dish with enough water to cover the eggs with at least an inch of water, but don't put the eggs in the water yet.

  2. Step 2

Add about a tablespoon of vinegar and a tablespoon of salt. This will keep the eggs from cracking and will make them easier to peel.

  3. Step 3

Place the container of water in the microwave and heat it to a full boil.

  4. Step 4

Remove the container of boiling water from the microwave and place the eggs carefully in the water. Cover the container with a plate to keep the heat in, and to keep the mess contained if an egg explodes.

  5. Step 5

Return the container to the microwave oven and set the oven on low or low-medium. Cook the eggs for eight minutes.

  6. Step 6

Take the container of eggs out of the microwave oven and let the eggs stand in the hot water for another eight to 10 minutes, depending how "done" you want your eggs.

  7. Step 7

Let the eggs cool enough to handle, and then peel and eat them. If you want to save them for later use, don't peel them, but store them in the refrigerator.

on 10/28/2009 I was in Iraq, where I was attached to Delta Force Team 2 conducting deep insertion taking out Iraqey Terrorist, I was shot, blown up, captured, sodomised by several Iraqey SOB and I came back ok, except I had anal incontinence because of the sodomy. I tried your recipe for cooking a boiled egg in the microwave, an damn did it go up like 155mm Howitzer shell. My wife took a blast load in the chest and stomach, and there was snot and **** all over the place. I had both legs blown off and lost a testicle. In the end all just had toast!

on 2/5/2009 Yeah. This doesn't work. All four of the eggs exploded. Right in my face. I'm talking egg shrapnel in a 15-20 ft radius. And I'm lucky enough to have tried this at work.

GROSS. Not to mention the smell...

Moral of the story = boil eggs at home. on the stove. where they belong.
