Instructions

    • 1

Locate a pencil box. If you don't have a pencil box, find something with a long, narrow shape that is at least 1/2 inch deep.

    • 2

Use the colored markers to color the inside bottom of the box. It won't stain plastic, so make whatever design you like. You can also blend or layer the colors.

    • 3

Squeeze white craft glue into the bottom of the box over the top of the design. The bottom should be fully coated with a thin layer of glue.

    • 4

Set the box aside to dry for at least 24 hours.

    • 5

Carefully peel the glue from the box. You'll need to use your fingers or a table knife to begin to peel the edge. At that point, it should come loose easily. The underside may be slightly damp, so allow it to dry completely before you use the bookmark.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want your glue bookmark to have a bit more glamor and glitz, sprinkle some glitter on top of the wet glue.

  • Invite your friends over for a "make-a-bookmark" party. Ask everybody to bring their own pencil box, and you can provide plenty of glue and markers. Be sure to serve some yummy treats like popcorn or cookies and juice or soda.
