How to Get Ready for Prom Night
Prom night is often the first chance that girls get to live out their childhood dream of turning into a princess. From hair to shoes, there are so many details that need to be considered for the big night. Getting ready for prom begins weeks before the actual date, and if you follow some of the steps below, the evening can meet most expectations.

1
Determine your prom-night budget. Three to four months before prom night, ask your parents how much they're willing to contribute to your budget. This way, you'll know how much you'll have to supplement the budget if you feel it's not enough, and you'll leave yourself enough time to save up.

2
Search for the perfect dress. Don't wait until the last minute to start looking for your prom dress, as limited time leaves fewer selections and creates more stress. It's best to begin shopping about three months before the prom.

3
Soften your skin. Spring hasn't fully arrived yet, but it's time to start getting your skin prom-dress ready, especially after a long, dry winter. Choose a body-moisturizing lotion that's compatible with your skin type and begin your routine to get your skin looking and feeling its best.
-
4
Review your table manners. The prom is a formal date, so make sure your table etiquette is top notch. Ask your parents for advice on formal dining, take an etiquette class or check out a book on etiquette from your local library.
-
5
Call about two months before your prom night to schedule your hair, makeup and nail appointments. You should set the appointments that early because every other girl in town is getting ready for prom too.
-
6
Remember the tuxedo. You're not wearing it, but it should complement your dress. Offer to help your date select the tux so that you can coordinate vests and ties.
-
7
Review all of your plans with your parents. It's important that they know where you'll be, whom you're going with and how you're getting there. Give them the names and phone numbers of your prom buddies, the limo information and your post-prom plans.

Tips & Warnings
Wear your shoes around the house to break them in for a couple of weeks before prom night.
When visiting your stylist to select your hairdo, bring a photo of you in your dress so that she can work with the neckline.
If you're feeling particularly pale after winter and spring, consider using a self-tanner to give yourself a bit of color.
When you visit the salon to have your hair and makeup done, wear a button-down shirt so that you don't ruin either when getting dressed.
Don't assume that your date knows he has to buy you a corsage, or you may end up with a bare wrist.
Don't, under any circumstances, drive after drinking or get into a car with a friend who's been drinking.
Don't wait to have your alterations done because the seamstress is going to be extremely busy this time of the year.
