Get swept up in the excitement of a friend's baby shower or the arrival of your new baby. Celebrate the occasion with a decorated broom that can adorn an entryway or nursery. Embellish it with baby-themed accents that are as adorable as the newborn they'll welcome.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Small broom
  • Ribbon
  • Adhesives
  • Flowers
  • Embellishments
  • Tags
  • Paint
  • Rubber stamps
  • Stamping ink
  • Stickers

Step1
Buy a small broom designed for decorative purposes. When shopping through an online site, check the listed measurements since many brooms are smaller than they appear (see Resources).
Step2
Determine a decorative theme, like moon and stars, ducks, sheep or hearts and flowers. You can also design the broom in a single color, personalize it to reflect the baby's name or coordinate it with the nursery theme.
Step3
Wrap the handle with ribbon that matches your (or the recipient's) home or baby's nursery. Secure it in several places with double-stick tape. Add a bow at the top or the base, if desired.
Step4
Decide if you'd like to hang the broom vertically or horizontally. Add small picture or "sawtooth" hangers for easy wall mounting.
Step5
Weave dried flowers, embellishments that suit the theme, letter accents or buttons among the bristles. Use floral wire, adhesive dots or hot glue to secure the items.
Step6
Decorate several small tags with paint, rubber-stamped images or stickers. Hang them off the handle or bristles with colorful ribbon ties or string. Use the surfaces to write short messages, baby-related quotes or touching song lyrics. Leave a few blank to add small photos of the baby's first days.
