When most people think about pizza, they think about going to a restaurant or ordering it to have it delivered. But if you are planning a kids party or just want a fun activity to do at home with the family, you should make your own pizza dough. Here is a great way to make a garlic-flavored pizza base.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Self-raising flour
  • 1/4 stick of butter
  • 1/2 cup of milk (low-fat)
  • Garlic puree (or 1 finely chopped clove)
  • Sieve
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cutting board
  • Roller
  1. Step 1

Put the flour through a sieve into a mixing bowl. You want to make sure you have removed all lumps. Take the time to sieve the flour well. Most sieves sit comfortably on a mixing bowl.

  2. Step 2

Mix the slab of butter into the flour. Rolling your sleeves up and diving right in there with your hands is the best way to do this (make sure you wash your hands well). Really break up the butter slab and mix it well. This will take several minutes.

  3. Step 3

Dump in your garlic puree or finely chopped garlic clove into the bowl. Stir that in until it is well mixed.

  4. Step 4

Pour the milk into the bowl a little at a time. Pour and stir is the mantra here.

  5. Step 5

Mound the mixture into one big ball of dough. Make sure you have well mixed each ingredient.

  6. Step 6

Place the dough out on a cutting board. Then roll it to your desired shape. While most pizzas are obviously round, you can have fun making other shapes, such as squares, rectangles and triangles. You are now ready to add toppings and bake your garlic-flavored pizza base.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add a little flour to your rolling pin so that it doesn't stick to the dough.
  • Place some corn meal on the bottom of your baking pan to keep the pan from sticking to the dough while baking.
  • Experiment with other flavors. Don't just limit yourself to garlic-flavored pizza dough. Use basil, oregano, sun dried tomatoes, olives and more.
